I'm scared to brush our dolls' hair too much. I finally put my Lissie's hair in a ponytail and haven't touched it since.

yes, Yes,YES!! Ugg! my Kirstens hair drives me NUTS!! she is a PM doll and her hair is horribly dry and frizzy. it is in braids now that I put in and looks AWFULE! *sigh* I have given up on the poor darling's hair. I dont know what to do with it. As for my Lissies hair, I just bought her last summer and it is still put in a low pony tail. Not the origional one, but the same style. Im afraid her hair will become like Kirstens. . Any advise on keeping your dolls hir actually looking nice? I have run out of ideas.

I've redone Kirsten's braids when they've needed it for years, but only recently actually let them stay out for a bit. Josefina and Felicity both have such simple styles that they've seen whatever I can come up with.

All of them could use some treatment though. I'm waiting till I have a bit more money for some wig shampoo and conditioner, probably end up being a Christmas Break project.

Also, the trick that I use for Kirsten is I braid her hair and when I end it, I don't pull the tip all the though the rubber band, creating a nice little nub to tuck under with the tips hiding in the loop.

I'm usually a perfectionist when it comes to my dolls' hair--until I get so exasperated that I give up! I moisten and brush Samantha's hair until I get it in the perfect or as near perfect half pony as it can get. Or I'll keep rebraiding Molly's hair until it looks somewhat like it does in the catalogue. Or I'll try and smooth out Clara's frizzies. It just goes on and on. I'm just as bad at my hair, if not worse!

I do get frustrated with Kirsten's hair sometimes. Maybe it's the age of the doll, but her hair really only looks good if it's in the two braids or one long braid. I've used the spritzing method to smooth the braids, and that helps. But if her hair is down, the lower half looks and feels pretty stiff and dry. I am going to try shampooing it soon, I've learned of some good wig products through the board. I'm excited about trying it, hope she comes out looking better!

Sometimes I do. But for the most part Josefina's hair is pretty neat although the ends are kinda rough. Right now she has a french braid in her hair

I planned on keeping Josefina's original braid in forever. But about 4 months later, with minimal "play" there were whispy hairs starting to work loose. I too don't like a hair out of place so I took the braid out and put it back in again using the same sections of hair that AG used. Back then I didn't know about misting the hair so it took a heap of patience to make each bundle of hair do exactly what I wanted. Since buying the AG hair kit, I always use the mist bottle and it works perfect.

I don't keep Josefina's hair in a braid as much anymore. I guess I started to really experiment with hair after seeing my dd's Kaya in different hair styles. Kaya has the perfect hair for doing different hair styles because it is so long. Without the water mist, however, my doll's hairstyles would be a hopeless mess.

I try not to take my dolls hair out of the original hairstyle. I'm redoing Molly's braids and I can't get the second braid to look as good as the first.

tngirl03,
If you haven't Downy Dunked Kirsten, I'd highly recommend it. There's a great photo album at http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4288869625 with instructions.

Also-- this is for everyone-- try using Biolage Daily Leave-In Treatment. It's a light spray-on conditioner. I use it about 90% of the time, and a water mist the other 10% when styling doll hair. It makes a huge difference in maintaining moisture in the hair and doesn't build up. It has vastly improved my Middletons. Gilly Gals was amazed at what it did for her Nellie. (I whipped it out of my backpack at a doll show.) I purchase mine at the salon in Walmart. It's about $11, and that goes a long, long way. I still have my first bottle, and I've had Kit since March 2004.
